Be green!

"Greenpeace exists because this fragile Earth deserves a voice. It needs solutions. It needs change. It needs action!"

Activity 1

Listen to the following four pieces of music and note down, for each of them:
1. any sensations that the music arises in you. ex: happy, cold, sleepy...
2. places in a natural environment that the different pieces of music suggest. ex. beach, forest...

Activity 2

Listen to the four pieces of music again and relate them to the pictures below.

*The excerpts of music you have been listening to are part of Vivaldi's Four Seasons piece. The first part belongs to the Spring concerto, the second to Summer, the third to Autumn and the fourth to Winter. Did you get the pictures right?

2. Go to this link  www.greenpeace.org/international/en/campaigns/  and search for information for the following questions:
a) What sort of environmental problems is Greenpeace working on?
b) What are the threats that forests are facing?
c) What are the human actions that are destroying the oceans?

3. Go to this link www.greenpeace.org/international/en/campaigns/climate-change/ and list five consequences of climate change.

4. Go to this link

Activity 4

Listen to the song "The 3 R's" by Jack Johnson and list the examples given on how to be green.

*Why not? Learn this song with your classmates and then sing it at the end of the year party. If some of you could learn how to play it in the guitar, it would be great!

Activity 5

Read the poem below to inspire you and then write a text of about 100 words on the topic "Be green!" Do not forget to hand it in to your teacher.

Our Precious Planet by:
Charlie Harrison, St Andrew’s CE High School for Boys, Worthing

In the future our planet could be covered in sea,
But that’s not the way we would want it to be.
Ice caps are melting and beginning to go,
There would be no polar bears without the snow.
Destroying the rainforests is a terrible crime,
Before they’re all gone is a matter of time.
Each precious animal could be extinct,
It’s hard to imagine ponder or think.
All of our cars are polluting the air,
Just stop and think is it really fair?
We need to take care of our special world,
For the next generation of boys and of girls.
